Requirements 

The following are the requirements to a member as a firefighter.  Most requirements need only be completed before the end of the probationary period. We also provide in-house training for many of the requirements. 

  • Must be 18 Years of Age
  • Must live in the Northern Piatt District or work a minimum of 40 hours within the district.
  • Obtain and maintain a Class B (non-CDL) Drivers License 
  • Must maintain a clean driving record
  • Complete all requirements of the Probationary Training (Firefighter Essentials)
  • Attend the meeting and training once a month
  • Maintain a valid CPR certification
  • Attend department functions (fund raisers, open house, etc.)
  • Attend one live fire training per year
  • Must have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn 
  • Be commitmitted to your community

To become an officer you must also complete the following:

  • EMS certification as a First Responder or above
  • Firefighter Basic Certification (Firefighter II)
  • Have at least 3 years of firefighting experience
The Process

  2. Make an appointment for an in person interview.
  3. Get voted onto the department.
  4. Begin your probationary firefighting period by attending trainings and assisting on fire calls.
