Rope Operations
Rope rescue may be incorporated into vehicle operations, firefighting operations, agricultural operations and other types of rescue. It is important to know the basics of rope rescue operations in order to ensure the success of these other types of rescue. For NPCFPD, it is necessary to learn and be proficient with the following knots & hitches:

Review the videos below and practice the use and tying of these knots and hitches. You should be able to tie them with gloves on and without looking at the rope. Also watch and become familiar with the hasty harness and the z rig for raising and lowering. During the practical portion of this training you will learn to setup the z-rig, tie the hasty harness and find anchor points to secure the lines. You will also use the munter hitch to belay rescuers and learn to tie on a prusik.
