Wildland Firefighting

Below is a video detailing firefighting in the wildland urban interface.  This is the area where  wildland meets homes or communities.  Although this video talks more about timber than corn fields, it still applies.  During our training, we will talk about and work basic wildland firefighting techniques but it is important to understand what to do when fires threaten homes and other structures.  Pay close attention to conditions that contribute to fire conditions.

Rural Water

The video below demonstrates drafting from ponds.  We will be practicing this procedure as water restrictions and the potential for rural fires this fall.  Be prepared to setup a drafting operation from both portable tank and static water source (pool, pond, stream, etc.)  We will practice drafting and switching from tank water to draft as part of our training this month.
